1. What characteristic about yourself has either been strengthened or weakened due to your experience as a Military Spouse? (from The Albrecht Squad)
Hands down it would have to be my ability to be independent. When bubby was deployed he was gone for 15 months. I was still living in my comfort bubble at my daddy's house. I never got out in to the "real world." Bubby's family lives in Arizona! The only time I was ever in the state was during layover to Mexico! 3 Weeks after bubby deployed, I got this crazy idea to MOVE to Arizona! I wasn't very close to his family and this was a good way to get to know them. I'm crazy! This 19 year old girl moving out of my comfort zone not knowing anything about the place. Granted we had gone down to see his family for 2 weeks. But 2 weeks was a whirlwind. I lived with one of his sisters friends whom I had met 1 time! He is now known as my brother. He took me under is wing and made sure that I was safe. His sister & I grew so close, she became my best friend. Although, it was hard being away from my famliy for 15 months, it was the best choice for me. I became able to be alone and was happy with it. The only person I relied on was myself. To this day my parents still think I'm crazy for doing it but I still maintain it was the best way for me to GROW UP!

2. What is your favorite vacation spot and why? (from ‘Tis the Life of the Army Wife)
I haven't really been to many vacation spots. But the one that I have been to and would love to go again is Acapulco, Mexico.  I went there for my 17th birthday! It was THE BEST time of my life. It's gorgeous there! I saw the infamous cliff divers! Swam with dolphins, got saved by lifeguards (literally), went to the foam party. But the most crazy thing I did on that vacation was went bungee jumping! Have I mentioned that I am mortified of heights? Seriously, I start sweating, hyperventilate and even get hives. Yuck! Anyways I did it!

I still have the video from the jump, it's on VHS though lol. Now, if you Google "bungee jumping in Acapulco" you'll find "don't jump in Acapulco". I'm just glad that I survived!

Homer or Bust

The most difficult thing about being an Army Wife is being away from my family. In my culture family is everything. Of course I consider my friends family, I'd do anything for them. I've been away from them for almost 2 years now and it doesn't get any easier as the time goes by. Luckily I have a couple of Aunts and Uncles who live about 9 hours away from me. Unfortunately, I don't get to see them as much as I'd like to but the time we spend together I treasure. I truly believe family keeps you grounded. They'll let you know when you're wrong and will always tell you the truth. Our last trek was down to Homer, AK. Although the drive to see them is brutal it is well worth it and the view of this amazing state i live in is gorgeous! This state is so breathtaking. I always think about how much of this state is untouched by man. If you ever get a chance to come to Alaska I would suggest stopping in Homer. This quaint little town is full of so many things to do. You can go berry picking, to the beach and there are many little stores on the spit that you can shop at. There are even boats that will take you out halibut fishing! There is a museum in Homer that I heard was amazing!

These trees are everywhere. They're crazy looking!

I've always loved reflections on water. This was taken on the Spit in Homer.

set up tent, stay a while.

One of my favorite things to do with my love is camping. Living in a state where you have 3 months out of the year to be outdoors without wearing layers you have to take what you can get. For some reason we haven't had the best luck finding good spots to camp. Actually, about 90% of the time it has rained on us. Like there was a cloud following us where ever we chose to camp. Perhaps that is just the perks of living in the last frontier. In the beginning of June, we had the idea to go camping thinking that all of the snow had already melted and it was warm enough to sleep outside. Needless to say we ended up sleeping in the truck most of the night and finally gave up, loaded up and drove home. Sleeping in a tent when it's 14 degrees out isn't the brightest idea. We finally found a cute little place right by the river to set up tent in July. There wasn't anyone around which was amazing so we let Miki run around and explore. Although the thought of a bear finding us made me cringe, we spent quality time together with no stress.
